Congratulations to the University of Kentucky Norwood Student Chapter of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME)!
For the 9th time, the UK SME chapter won the Minerals Education Coalition (MEC) Student Chapter Outreach Award. In addition, the chapter won the SME Outstanding Student Chapter Award for the 8th time.
The MEC SME Student Chapter Outreach Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of a SME Student Chapter on a college campus and their faculty and industry advisors for their accomplishments in community outreach and mining/mineral education to serve the mission of the MEC.
The SME Outstanding Student Chapter Award recognizes outstanding achievement at the student chapter level by honoring the four top contestants in its Outstanding Student Chapter Contest. The winning chapter receives a $500 cash award, a certificate of recognition and a ticket to the awards banquet at the SME annual meeting. The winning chapter also receives a travel allowance of up to $500 to offset travel expenses related to the meeting.The UK SME chapter is an extremely active student organization.
